Thanks to the country's climatic diversity, France's wines offer a wide range of flavours so that everyone can find the right wine. Popular red wine grape varieties from France are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Winemakers like to use Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mourvedre for Mediterranean reds. Alsace, on the other hand, is known for its pure white wines. Every year, 250,000 hectolitres of Riesling are produced in 22% of Alsace's vineyards. But Gewürztraminer is also highly sought after for its strong flavour and diverse aromas. Sparkling wines: Buy champagne and crémant at great prices
If you want to toast a gold medal or a new world record, you should have champagne or crémant in the house. Champagne is subject to strict rules regarding production and origin. The sparkling wine must come from the region of the same name in the north of France, be produced according to the so-called "Méthode champenoise" and have a natural cork. Crémant, on the other hand, comes from growing regions in France, Belgium or Luxembourg, but production is just as strictly regulated. For example, bottle fermentation is mandatory for both types of sparkling wine.
