In Denmark, beer is a staple part of the meal plan and can be drunk at almost any event or time of day. Most employers even tolerate their employees drinking a beer on a Friday after work. To celebrate International Beer Day on 2 August, we want to shed some light on which beer is the most important and popular.

Wheat - a classic German beer

Wheat beer, also known as white beer, is a classic in the German so-called "Biergärten". The beer is known for its large white head. In order to be called a "wheat beer", the beer must be brewed with at least 50% wheat malt. The yeast also plays an important role as it provides the sweet note.

Pilsner - The icon of beer brewing

Named after the Czech city of Pilsen, Pilsner has become the star of German beer brewing. With its golden appearance, bitter taste and tart hop flavour, it is one of the most popular beers in the world. A pilsner leaves a pleasant dry flavour in the mouth and contains plenty of bubbles.

Helles - a golden temptation

Helles, also known as "Helles Lager" in Germany, is a jewel in the German brewing tradition. With its golden colour, its mild taste and a balanced flavour of malt and hops make it a delicious beer to drink in company. It is also characterised by its good digestibility.

Dark beer - deep and rich

Germany is also known for its diversity in dark beer. From dark pilsners to robust bock or black beers, these beers offer a rich palette of roasted flavours and malty nuances. The dark colour, by the way, is due to the colour of the malt.

Stout - Ireland's dark seduction

Known through the famous Guinness of Ireland, stout is characterised by its powerful dark flavour with an intense taste. The creamy texture and consistent flavour make it a special taste experience for all dark beer lovers.

Radler - a refreshing blend

Radler is a German invention which combines beer with lemon lemonade. This light alcoholic beer is especially popular in summer and makes for a refreshing change.
